A Quick Escape to Kubo ni Inday, Panaraga, Barobo, Surigao del Sur
If you’re in need of a peaceful break surrounded by nature, Panaraga in Barobo, Surigao del Sur is a spot worth checking out. With its relaxing vibes and scenic coastal views, it’s the kind of place that lets you slow down and breathe. During my visit, I stayed at Kubo ni Inday, a charming beachfront retreat that blends rustic simplicity with a calming seaside atmosphere. Getting there is a bit expensive if you're commuting. From the Barobo town proper, you can hop on a tricycle (Bao-bao) for around ₱200–₱300, and the ride takes you through pleasant countryside roads. If you’re driving your own vehicle, even better — the roads are smooth and easy to follow.
Kubo ni Inday offers native-style cottages that are well-maintained, cozy, and clean. It’s the perfect place for those who want to enjoy the basics without the crowd. The caretakers—friendly locals from the area—were welcoming and made my stay feel even more laid-back and homey. However, there are still a few areas where they could improve. Wi-Fi is limited, there’s no in-house food service yet, and recreational activities are still in the works. Also, Barobo doesn’t currently have app-based transport like Grab or Angkas, so getting around without your own vehicle can be a bit of a challenge. Still, those minor inconveniences don’t take away from what Kubo ni Inday and Panaraga have to offer. The soothing sound of the waves, the fresh sea breeze, and the peaceful environment make it an ideal spot for anyone looking to unplug and unwind. It may not be a high-end resort, but for lovers of nature and quiet coastal charm, it’s a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
If you're planning a trip with family or friends, Barobo is a great place to explore. Aside from relaxing at Kubo ni Inday, you can also visit the town’s popular natural attractions like Vanishing Island, Turtle Island, and Cabgan Island—each offering crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches. For something more refreshing, head to Bogac Cold Spring, where the cool, clear water offers the perfect escape from the heat. Traveling to Barobo is convenient. You can either catch a bus or rent a car for a more comfortable and flexible trip. Whether you're seeking adventure or just want to relax by the shore, Barobo—especially Kubo ni Inday—is a lovely destination to enjoy simple pleasures and make lasting memories.
